Workflows are powerful, and you build them
Dubsado's strength is conditional workflows, forms and portals that you design. That depth takes setup: the automations do what you build, so a studio has to plan and assemble them before they run.
Alternative to Dubsado
Dubsado is a deep workflow and forms tool, and its scheduler comes with the Premier plan. Karavex starts from the booking — services, availability, deposits, contracts — and adds client galleries on the same record, which Dubsado leaves to separate gallery products.
Why studios leave Dubsado
Dubsado's strength is conditional workflows, forms and portals that you design. That depth takes setup: the automations do what you build, so a studio has to plan and assemble them before they run.
Dubsado's advanced scheduling and booking are part of the Premier plan, not Starter. A studio that wants clients to book online needs the higher tier.
Dubsado does not include client photo galleries. Delivery and selections happen in a separate gallery service such as Pic-Time, ShootProof or Pixieset, on its own subscription.

Why Karavex
Services, availability, buffers, intake and deposit rules are settings in Karavex rather than workflows you assemble, and an onboarding checklist walks you through them.
Adding a session type, changing a price or bringing on a team member updates the booking rules in place, because the rules belong to the service rather than to a chain of automation steps.
Client galleries, named selection lists, reactions and downloads belong to the booking in Karavex, next to the contract and invoice, with no separate gallery subscription.
From the Starter plan, Karavex booking links go in a bio or a message and take the client straight to service, time, intake and deposit.
FAQ
It asks for different work. Dubsado has you design workflows; Karavex has you set services, availability and deposit rules, with an onboarding checklist in the dashboard. Studios that want deep custom automation may prefer Dubsado's approach.
No. Karavex covers the automation a booking needs — confirmations, reminders, deposits, contracts and gallery delivery — rather than open-ended conditional workflows.
Yes. Gallery delivery, selections, reactions and downloads are part of Karavex and connected to each booking, so no separate gallery service is needed.
