Photo gallery storage calculator

Gallery storage grows with every shoot and only levels off once you delete photos from old galleries. Enter how many galleries you deliver, how large they are and how long you keep their photos to see how much storage you need.

Your galleries

The starting values are an example, not a benchmark. Replace them with figures from your own galleries.

The size of the files you upload for clients, not your raw camera files, unless you deliver those.

Expiring or archiving a gallery keeps its photos. Storage is freed when the photos are deleted.

How the calculation works

Only the files you upload count toward plan storage. The previews, thumbnails and watermarked copies made for the gallery do not. A gigabyte here is 1,024 MB, the same unit plan storage uses.

  • Storage per gallery = photos per gallery × average file size ÷ 1,024.
  • Added each month = storage per gallery × galleries delivered per month.
  • In use = added each month × months you keep each gallery's photos. Until the first photos are deleted, usage is still climbing toward this figure.

How to keep gallery storage under control

Upload the size you deliver

Clients rarely need full-resolution files for every image. Uploading the size you actually deliver is usually the largest saving, because every uploaded file counts in full.

Delete photos when a gallery is done

Expiring or archiving a gallery closes client access but keeps its photos. Agree how long galleries stay online, then delete the photos when that period ends so storage stops growing.

Keep your archive somewhere else

A client gallery is for delivery, not long-term backup. Keep originals and raw files in your own archive, and upload only what the client needs to see and download.

Common questions

Do previews and thumbnails count toward storage?

No. Only the files you upload count toward your plan's storage. The previews, thumbnails and watermarked copies made for the gallery do not.

What happens when storage is full?

New uploads stop until you move to a larger plan or add storage. Galleries you have already published stay available to clients.

Do expired or archived galleries still use storage?

Yes. Expiring or archiving a gallery ends client access but keeps its photos, so they still count toward your plan. Storage is freed when you delete the photos.
